Carnegie Library
The Auburn Carnegie Library sits atop of a hill in the heart of downtown Auburn, California. The 1909 library features iconic turn of the century exterior construction with a foyer that opens to a grand room with classic pillars and large windows. The back windows in office, restroom and north side of the building provide a full view of the back garden, surrounded by a wooden fence and an hand welded gate with art glass center. The downstairs features a sunlit classroom with rustic floors and large turn of the century pocket doors that open to another studio area with movable walls and rustic painted floor. A small "quiet" room sits at the northeast corner with a board table and ground level windows. A path along the south of the building features pavers and artistic bike racks leading to the main gate to the garden. The surrounding neighborhood has a mixture of homes from the 1900s through 1950s, an updated apartment complex, some mixed use businesses, and mature trees.
