The Beauty of The Foothills
The foothills of Placer feature mining towns from the gold rush era, rolling wineries and miles of orchards and ranches.
The mountains of Placer roll through Auburn and all the way up to Lake Tahoe. The mountains offer remote communities and easy accessibility to Interstate-80.
The foothills have a variety of small family farms and large ranches that raise anything from sheep, cows, horses, chickens, and goats.
The historical Auburn courthouse was built in 1898 and remains a functioning government building. The courthouse features a Renaissance Revival-inspired dome that towers over the iconic town of Auburn and was used as a backdrop to the 1996 movie “Phenomenon.”
