FILM OFFICE plays host to FLICS, provides tour
Our film office recently had the pleasure of hosting the Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS) board meeting on July 15 and 16 right here in Placer County. FLICS is a statewide professional association of more than 40 film commissions and offices dedicated to promoting filming throughout California and assisting productions with locations, permits, resources, and local knowledge —all at no charge.
The Placer Lake Tahoe Film Office was one of the original founding members of FLICS, but this is the first time Placer has hosted a board meeting for the organization in over a decade.
The two meetings were held in Auburn and there were 12 in-person attendees from FLICS. The group listened to industry speakers regarding the safe use of weapons on set and went on a FAM (familiarity) tour across Placer County to visit picturesque sites like Colfax, Dutch Flats and the iconic Foresthill Bridge.
“It was wonderful having FLICS board members here,” said Placer Lake Tahoe Film Office Liaison Juli Johnston. “We were excited to show them around Placer County and to describe what makes this area so special. The networking opportunities were also terrific and very valuable to our work of promoting our region.”
The tour provided a clearer picture for board members to better understand locations available for filming in Placer.
Our office is proud to offer free film permits for media production on county-owned property (monitoring fees may apply). Additional permitting may be required depending on your location and the local jurisdiction.
We strive to turn around permits in one to two business days for most productions. Applications with additional needs such as road closures, traffic control, drone, safety concerns, and others, do require more time but we work quickly to ensure you get the filming dates necessary to keep your production on track.
If you have any questions, or are unsure what type of permit you may need, contact us.
